We are the central hub for managing and facilitating payments.

The Payments domain ensures secure and efficient transactions, enhances the user experience, and drives successful transactions through a reliable platform with advanced fraud prevention and tailored payment solutions.

At Payments domain, our mission is to serve as a reliable, ultra-low-cost payment service and enable any transaction at Vinted to succeed.

We're seeking a backend engineer for one of our Payment domain teams.

The candidate should be skilled at writing elegant code and enjoy working on large-scale projects that impact millions of payments.

Our team focuses on AML and KYC. We ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, enhance transaction security, and protect the platform from money laundering activities.

By implementing advanced verification and monitoring systems, our team plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and trustworthiness of Vinted's payment ecosystem, ensuring a safe and compliant experience for all users.

The team consists of all roles required to fulfill our area's development needs:

multiple backend engineers, iOS, WEB, Android, test automation engineers, decision- and data scientists, a designer, and a product manager.

In this position, you'll

  • Drive impactful, high-visibility projects in collaboration with engineers, designers, product managers, and data scientists from inception to completion.
  • Work with Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Memcached, Elasticsearch and many more technologies. We don't expect you to be familiar with any of them beforehand, but we expect you will be excited to learn about them
  • Take charge of tech initiatives within the newly developed Vinted Pay product. Advocate for best practices, influence technical direction, and ensure quality from the outset.
  • Work with fellow developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement.
  • See your code impact 80+ million users almost instantly, as our master branch is deployed directly to production with each merge.
  • Use tools like Kibana, Grafana, and DataDog to monitor your deployed code and ensure optimal performance.
  • Take ownership of Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) within the product team, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Partner effectively across teams to prioritize tasks and deliver impactful results.
  • Offer direct and constructive feedback within the team and larger functions. Actively seek feedback from peers to foster personal and team growth.
About You

  • You have extensive experience in backend engineering, with a strong focus on designing scalable and reliable systems.
  • We primarily use Ruby and Golang, but knowing these languages is a flexible requirement. We value your willingness to learn new technologies.
  • You are experienced with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, and Kibana.
  • You have worked with relational and in-memory databases, including MySQL and Redis.
  • You are driven to elevate the status quo. When you identify opportunities for improvement, you champion your ideas and drive meaningful change within the team.
  • You effectively balance short-term needs with long-term stability, resolving incidents promptly while ensuring future reliability.
